When I first heard about Obama's proposal to extend school days and to shorten summer vacations, the immature preteen in quickly shouted "HELL NO!! THE LAST PLACE I WANT TO BE IN LONGER IS SCHOOL." My government teacher changed my thoughts on the subject, reminding me that I (the class) was a senior and that the decisions will affect my children, I quickly changed my mind on the subject, wanting and hoping that one day, my child will recieve a better education than I did.

Upon researching the subject and looking at other opinions, like the child that does their work and gets good grades, but dosent have enough time to spend with family. between working, sports, extra curricular activities, then I think about it. My last year in high school ,my first year doing my work and staying focused. My first year with straight b's. My year. How tiring this year is. And the sh*t just started!!! I almost fell asleep on my niece the other day, I was so tired, Now i feel like, if anything we need a shorter school day. Maybe only 4 days a week we attend. I feel like Barack is not thinking about all the working teenagers, who are saving up for college, I mean, between all these damn taxes, the adults don't make what they are supposed to, so whats left for the kids?
Extending the school day is not going to guarantee good grades. At All. I would skip all the time because I would need a break. I skip occasionally because I need a break from the 7 hour school days as it is..But ten hours? Crazy.
Barack says he wants the grades to go up. If the teachers taught better and parents were better parents, we would'nt be a C country. I love Obama, but he needs to CHANGE his thoughts on school.
